	The AuSable River provides a unique, pristine setting for canoeists, whether they are looking for a 2 ½ hour trip or a seven day adventure. With an average depth of one to three feet and a four to six mph current, the AuSable River is very safe for all members of the family and groups of all sizes.


	If nature interests you, plan to get up early and enjoy the morning sights and sounds of the majestic AuSable River. Designated as one of Michigan’s wild and scenic rivers, the AuSable is home to abundant wildlife. Reservations should be made in advance for all trips. Glennie’s Alcona Canoe Rental


	offers a trip from McKinley to 4001 Bridge (approximately 2 ½ hours) and from Comins to 4001 Bridge (approximately 5 hours) throughout the season.


	Other daily canoe trips are also available, featuring a variety of trip lengths. Federal law requires everyone to be off the river by 6 P.M. daily..


	Kayaking has become popular over the last couple of years. Alcona Canoe Rental kayaks are easy to maneuver because they are shorter than typical kayaks, making them run straight. Kayak trips are from 2 ½ to five hours


		Another fun way to see the AuSable River is by tube.Enjoying the AuSable in a tube is one of the best ways to spend a sunny afternoon.

	Alcona Canoes also sports a rustic campground, fit with 6 rustic cabins and 1 large semi-modern cabin. There is a shower house and bathrooms provided, with tokens and firewood for sale.
