	Coastal Expeditions is a small group of naturalists dedicated to a mission statement of environmental stewardship and nature based education. All of the naturalist guides are trained professionals committed to this mission with certifications in CPR, AED, First Aid and life guarding.


	South Carolina is rich in history and blessed with dynamic edges connecting a great variety of ecosystems. From the barrier islands and estuaries of Cape Romain NWR to the black water environments of Francis Marion NF and the ACE Basin, your paddling opportunities are endless. …floating on black water in abandoned rice fields where you are surrounded by the plantation history of Antebellum Charleston’s rich rice culture. Glide past American Alligators sunning on the bank, Fiddler Crabs scurrying to and fro in the grass and listen for the call of a circling Osprey as you paddle back through time. This is experiencing the Lowcountry’s inland waterways with Coastal Expeditions.

…paddling with the flow, on a tidal creek as Eastern Brown Pelicans sail past, inches above the water, and a cacophony of bird voices; Laughing Gulls, American Oyster Catchers, Royal Terns and Black Skimmers call to their mates from a bustling rookery. Then a rush of exhaled air alerts you to a visit from a pod of Atlantic Bottlenose Dolphin, breaching in two’s and three’s all around your boat. …winding through a majestic Cypress/Tupelo Swamp, where the glassy waters mirror the forest above creating an unworldly maze. Vast mats of brilliant Yellow Burr-marigold line the edges of the meandering swamp. Yellow Bellied Sliders sun themselves on downed trees and the large umbrella leaves of the Giant Elephant-ear Arum sway gently in the slow currents. Great Blue Heron, Peliated Woodpeckers, Barred Owls, and Prothonatary Warblers abound in this magical hidden water garden. 	…camping primitively on an undeveloped barrier island. Get a taste of the “all you can eat 24 hour seafood buffet” when we treat you to fresh picked South Carolina Oysters cooked over your campfire. Wake each morning to a brilliant sunrise over the Atlantic Ocean illuminating the ghostly “Boneyard Beach” of Caper’s Island.


	Let Willets and Sanderlings lead you down the beach where an abundance of Knobbed Whelks, Moon Snails and Sand Dollars can be found. This is experiencing the Lowcountry’s barrier islands with Coastal Expeditions.

Coastal Expeditions has been serving the paddling needs of the Lowcountry since 1992. We specialize in customized family kayak tours for groups as small as two and as large as forty. We offer kayak rentals, instruction, half full and multi-day expeditions.
