 Welcome
Northern Minnnesota is home to the famous Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness -- the largest canoeing wilderness in the United States. There are over 1,000 clear water lakes in this million-plus acre wilderness. The Gunflint Trail (a 60 mile paved road) is one of the primary access routes to the wilderness, and is in the Laurentian Highlands, with hundreds of deep rock lakes scoured out by the glaciers centuries ago. Some of the water flows to the Atlantic and some to the Arctic. This area has the finest lake trout fishing in mid-America and is home to a significant moose population.
Canoe Trips
We offer over 50 routes for you to pick from--with trips varying from 3 to 14 nights in length, from an easy route to a challenging one--all with a variety of scenic lakes to paddle. The lakes vary in size and vary in the fish species that live in them. The portages between the lakes range from a 'lift over' to 4 blocks in length, and there is very little white water paddling.
Outfitting Packages
Trips are available from early May to mid October. Most people take advantage of our custom planning and take a trip on their own, although we also offer guided canoe trips.
We reserve your trip permits, do your route planning, go over maps with you, and answer all your questions. Our outfitting services go from complete outfitting to just filling in with the odds and ends that you are short of. To give you an idea of our services--we have a full range of equipment with several  brands of canoes, tough Eureka tents, warm sleeping bags, maps, light weight foods, all cooking equipment, first aid kits, etc. Overnight rustic accommodations are available the night before or after your canoe trip and meals are available in our main lodge.
In addition to our full service outfitting, we offer all kinds of packages--fishing packages, family packages, seniors packages, rustic/plush combo, and a 5 lake combo package.

We would like to visit with you to learn your interests, skill levels and ambitions, so we can match you with the appropriate route. Obviously this varies with each group--some want to go fishing, some are families with small children that want an easy beginner trip, some are youth groups that are full of vinegar, and others might like to see more of our wildlife or birds.
