A Paddlers Request for Information
The following is very typical of the daily emails that come into gopaddle.com:
Hello.
I am interested in rafting in Connecticut and came across your website.
I was hoping you could give me some of the basic information:
cost per person
age restrictions
weight restrictions
how many people can raft together?
how far in advance do we need to reserve a guide?
What about the weather, are there situations when you wouldn’t go out?
What is the difference between the ZOAR GAP which says "family rafting" and
the HOUSATONIC RIVER which states "Class I to III flow.
Am I to assume you provide life jackets? Is there anything else that we would
need to bring or provide?
Thanks in advance for any information you can give me. I have never rafted before
but am very excited to try it, hopefully with my family.

Seldom a day (sometimes an hour) goes by that an email or phone call like this arrives in our office. We politely explain that we are a Directory of Paddlesports Outfitters and encourage the person to return to our website and contact the outfitter directly. As a matter of policy, we do not recommend a specific outfitter. We also attempt to answer general questions about paddling. In addition, we often forward the emails to outfitters with banner ads and links from our website.
As I was typing this, I received a call requesting help in locating a phone number for Kayak Chicago leading to the following email exchange:
Ms. Presher,
Here's the number we have listed Phone
630-336-7245
If you get in touch with them, please let them know you found them through gopaddle.com.
Also, if they are no longer in business, I would appreciate you letting me know so I can delete them from our website.
Thanks for calling and emailing gopaddle.com and
Happy Paddlin',
Jim
