Virus Attack
Somehow someone hacked into our server and embedded a virus on our website. This virus was not introduced from here. It was introduced at the server. This not only interrupted our services, it shut down gopaddle’s email and the email that was sent to the Pink Canoe. These emails were permanently lost. In addition, we have no statistics for the time the site was shut down.
Our best estimate is that we lost about 600 unique visits a day for four days. We greatly appreciate all the outfitters and paddlers who contacted us about the problem
As far as gopaddle.com is concerned, this was an inconvenience. But, due to the timing, this was a malicious attack on the Pink Canoe Project and a horrendous act of sabotage. If anyone tried to email us during this time, you received a notice that the email was not deliverable. We are back up and running. Please resend your emails at your earliest convenience.
Even with this temporary shut down. The list of names for the Pink Canoe is growing by leaps and bounds. So does the list of sponsors. Visit: http://www.gopaddle.com/html/sponsors.html
Though the mission of Paddlin’ for the Pink and All the Rest is to reach out to young active women and men about the importance for cancer screenings for early detection, particularly for those individuals with a cancer history within their immediate families, the fact remains that the international publicity surrounding the Pink Canoe Project is reaching out to millions of people. It sends a positive message about paddling as a wholesome family fun outdoor recreation. And, as such, it fits well within gopaddle.com’s mission to promote paddlesports recreation on the waterways around the world. By supporting Paddlin’ for the Pink and All the Rest, we are saving young lives and promoting paddlesports, too.
